Firmware upgrade issue

Hi!
I'm trying to upgrade firmware on my Tarantula, but so far I'm stuck at seemingly simple point: I can't get the drivers working.

I installed Arduino - no ports available. I read the web and installed FTDI VCP for Windowns via installer (I run Windows 8 x64, also tried the same steps on Win 10 x64 laptop), driver said it installed successfully, but after I plugged USB cable device manager showed device as "USB2.0-Serial" with a warning sign (no driver). I tried to install it manually: downloaded a zip and tried to point device manager to its folder, but no luck - windows failed to find any drivers there.
Arduino IDE has no ports to upload to, so I can do nothing.
I have no idea what else to try. Any ideas?

I have Win10x64 on my Surface. Honestly, I just let it auto-detect after installing Arduino IDE and it works great.

Have you tried to "Search for new hardware"?

Finally got it settled. I had to install CH341SER driver instead of FTDI, though I've only seen a single post that mentions that. Hope this helps someone.
