PLA Rose - MK4duo vs Marlin RC8

Post by Lee » Wed May 10, 2017 6:06 pm

Flashed MK4duo last night, did some fiddling to adapt to my setup (invert Z, zsteps). Here is a side-by-side of the same gcode print. No changes were made to the printer besides the firmware flash; I didn't even re-level the bed.

Printed in MakerGeeks translucent PLA

Left is MK4duo and right is Marlin RC8

If you look carefully the MK4duo has smoother surfaces and the edges of the petals are cleaner as well.

The parameters (speed, acceleration, retraction, extrusion, ...) were absolutely identical?

Yes, all settings were identical down to the PID values.
